Students completed Christmas cards for wounded servicemen at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They were sent Dec. 10, 2007. Merry Christmas!

Mrs. Garcia’s and Mrs. Whiteheart’s first grade classes went to the Darcy Hall nursing home on Dec. 4th to help spread some Christmas cheer.  They sang Christmas carols, some of the students read, and they brought the residents of Darcy Hall some special treats.  They students were very excited about reaching out to others through “Project Serve.”

Second & Third grades collected clothing for under-resourced people living in Pahokee.  They brought in adult and children’s gently used clothing.   The clothing was collected in the individual classrooms and then Mrs. Kendall delivered the items.

Missionary Flights, International
4th and 5th grade students will be helping to load the plane to prepare it to deliver goods to the poorest of Haiti through the West Indies. The impact of our students’ service will be felt around the world.

SCS Elementary Students Reach Out to Children at Orphanage - The elementary students will be sending notes and pictures to the children at the Casa Bernabe Orphanage in Vera Cruz, Nicaragua, which they wrote during their Spanish class with Mrs. Sandy Nilius. She helped the students to write encouraging messages to the orphans in Spanish. Mrs. Barbara Mackey helped students design the cards for the messages which will be delivered Dec. 20th along with 'gently used' t-shirts, shorts, jeans and sneakers for the orphanage. Our students are very excited to be blessing these children who have so little.

Scholastic

Scholastic Book Club - 200 books will be donated to kids in need! Scholastic Book Clubs runs a program called Classroomscare. In this program, when a class reads 100 books by December 21, 2007, Scholastic Book Clubs will donate 100 books to kids in need. The K5 and 1st grade classes set a goal, 100 books to read by the end of November. We did it! This is a great way to share the love of reading and make a difference!
